Module 3-Podcasts, Part I

In this Module, you will be learning about Podcasts.  Uniquely, I will be presenting this Module using Podcasts.  In addition to the Podcasts, you will find lesson plans and handouts at the bottom of the page.  Please feel free to adjust anything to your own specifics.

What is a Podcast?
According to the article, "Podcasting in the Classroom" which appeared in Learning and Leading with Technology from ISTE in November 2005, "Podcasting is an automated technology that allows listeners to subscribe and listen to digitally recorded audio shows." (20)  These shows are broken up into parts or "episodes".  These episodes can be created specifically for your use or you can find podcasts that are already created, it is just as easy as looking up information on the internet.  Since they are readily available on-line, you can find just about anything you may be looking for!

In order to guide you through the use of podcasts, you will find five (5) episodes below that will share how Podcasting can be utilized in the classroom.

Podcasting in the Classroom:
Episode 1:  What is Podcasting and how can I use it in the classroom?

Episode 2:  Using Podcasts as a Pre-Assessment/Diagnostic tool.

Episode 3:  Using Podcasts to help re-teach and/or enhance a lesson.

Episode 4:  Using Podcasts as a Post-Assessment tool.

Episode 5:  Examples of uses across the curriculum.
