Module 5-E-books

This module is set up differently from the others. In this module, I have compiled information regarding e-books.  You can view the videos and read the articles to learn about e-books, e-readers, and how they can be implemented into the classroom.

What are e-books?
An e-book is an electronic book.  This can be a novel or even a textbook.  Any text that can be read on a some type of device would fit into this category.  When they first originated, e-readers were meant to read copies of printed text, much like a PDF file.  Today, e-readers contain just about any information you can find on-line and they offer a new interactive avenue for readers of all ages.  Check out the videos below to learn about how e-reading is developing and how we can incorporate them into our classrooms!

How can we use them?
Much like the traditional textbook, e-books can be used for reading and learning basic information.  Where e-books differ is that they engage the students.  Not only can they focus on reading skills, but new devices offer many features to help students of all ages and abilities!  Learn how to take notes, look up new vocabulary, and even play interactive games.  At the pace that devices are changing, there is no telling just where reading will go in the next few years!

See what kids think:
Hear from students who have been introduced to e-readers and e-books.  Notice the passion and involvement they take in their work.  Motivation tends to be the leading factor in the success of e-books.  E-readers help keep students in their digital world.
